A Bearish Start To The Year

Last week, stocks entered a new phase of notable volatility. Early in the week, semiconductor stocks rallied, buoyed by strong revenue reports from companies like Foxconn, which benefited from increased demand for AI technologies. This uplift was also assisted by NVDA crushing it at the CES conference and tagging a new all-time high.
However, by the end of the week, the tune had changed. The market reversed course following a robust employment report indicating that U.S. employers hired more workers than anticipated. This development raised concerns about potential inflationary pressures, leading to fears that the Federal Reserve might maintain higher interest rates for an extended period. Consequently, all major indices declined by approximately 1.5% on Friday.
