New President, New Highs
Hey,
Key Weekly Performance Stats:
- S&P 500: +1.74% (New High)
- Nasdaq 100: +1.30%
- Russel 2000: +0.78%
- Bitcoin: +0.71%
Last week, stocks pushed higher and higher. The S&P 500 rose 1.7% achieving its first record close of 2025. Markets are optimistic that the Trump administration will implement deregulation and support dealmaking. Additionally, an executive order on digital assets is boosting the cryptocurrency market.
Economic data released during this period was mixed. The U.S. housing market showed strength, but a survey indicated slowing business activity, even as firms increased hiring. Consumer sentiment also dropped to below previous estimates. Despite these mixed signals, markets are betting that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates unchanged in the upcoming meeting.
Looking ahead, there are many reports and updates you should be monitoring. The Federal Reserve's policy meeting (Jan. 29th) is anticipated to provide insights into future interest rate decisions. The release of the PCE report and Personal Income & Spending data on January 31st will offer further indications of economic health. You should also be attentive to any new policy announcements from the Trump administration, especially regarding tariffs and deregulation efforts, as these could significantly impact various sectors. As always, stick to your plan and respect your risk. Godspeed.
Best,
Thicc Kohrs
