- Russel 2000: -1.75%
- Bitcoin: -8.50%
Last week, Markets were all over the place. The week kicked off with a relief rally as progress toward ending the record shutdown lifted sentiment and sent mega-caps higher. Tuesday kept the momentum going even with banks and the bond market closed for Veterans Day. The Dow hit fresh highs, while the Nasdaq cooled a bit as the AI trade took a breather.
Midweek strength didn’t last. By Thursday, tech and AI names led a sharp pullback as investors started questioning whether corporate AI spending is running too hot too fast. Rate-cut expectations also slipped, which weighed on everything from semis to small caps. Friday stayed choppy, but the overall damage for the week was mild: the Dow and S&P finished slightly higher, and the Nasdaq only handed back a small slice of its recent gains.
Looking ahead to next week, we have a busy stretch of data and one huge spotlight moment: Nvidia earnings. Alongside updates on manufacturing, housing, industrial production, and trade prices, we’ll get the FOMC minutes, existing-home sales, leading indicators, consumer sentiment, and November’s flash PMIs. But make no mistake, NVDA’s results and guidance will dominate the conversation. After last week’s wobble in AI stocks, traders will be looking for confirmation that the story still has juice. As always, stick to your trading plan and respect your risk. Godspeed.
