The Bulls Won't Quit!
Hey,
Key Weekly Performance Stats:
- S&P 500: +1.46% (New High)
- Nasdaq 100: +0.90% (New High)
- Russel 2000: +1.03%
- Bitcoin: -0.33%
Stocks marched higher all week, with the S&P 500 setting a record close every day and the Nasdaq also finishing at fresh highs; the Dow lagged but still ended the week up. Earnings helped—Alphabet steadied tech sentiment even as Tesla whipsawed—and optimism around potential U.S.–EU trade progress added tailwinds. The 10‑year Treasury yield hovered around 4.39% by Friday’s close.
July “flash” PMIs showed a split picture: services strengthened while manufacturing slipped back into contraction (Manufacturing 49.5). Weekly jobless claims fell to 217,000, underscoring a still‑resilient labor market. June durable‑goods orders slumped on aircraft, while core capital‑goods orders (a proxy for business investment) dipped 0.7% and core shipments rose 0.4%.
Looking ahead, next week is a big macro week. The Fed meets July 29–30, the advance Q2 GDP print lands Wednesday, June PCE inflation is Thursday, and the July jobs report hits Friday. Earnings also stay busy—Boeing reports Tuesday, with Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta later in the week. Global cues to watch include China’s official manufacturing PMI (Thu) and the euro‑area CPI flash (Fri). As always, stick to your plan and respect your risk. Godspeed.
